Maintaining price transparency and food regulation is critical to ensuring food security, particularly regarding food availability and access for the wider population. The Food Monitor Initiative by the Center for Indonesian Policy Studies (CIPS) conducts this oversight on a quarterly basis through price and policy analysis of strategic food commodities in Indonesia.
A number of paradoxes in Indonesia’s current food policy landscape have broad implications for the efforts of all food-sector stakeholders to achieve food security and public welfare. Strategic steps are therefore needed to drive reform and establish a food policy framework that is both transparent and evidence-based.
This essay competition represents CIPS’s effort to invite academic perspectives and enrich public discourse on Indonesian food policy through a diverse range of scholarly lenses.
