About the event
CIPS will hold a policy panel discussion together with a launching of Legatum Instituteās General Index for Economic Openness (GIEO) in Jakarta. The event, titled āHow to win foreign direct investment for Indonesiaā, will focus on policy reforms to cultivate better investment climates to attract much needed FDI for Indonesia. The topic is a timely issue as Indonesian President Joko Widodo enters his second term with the agenda to boost foreign direct investment to Indonesia.Ā
The event will start with presentations by Stephen Brien from the Legatum Institute (launch of the 2019 report and Indonesia case study), then Rainer Heufers from CIPS (sharing our perspectives on regulatory reforms needed in Indonesia), and lastly from Donny Agustiady, Director of PwC Indonesia (on Indonesiaās investment climate). It will be followed by a session of Q&A and discussion with the audience.Ā
The discussion will bring together an audience from investment networks, economists, think-tanks, and Indonesia media concerned with regulatory reforms and the future of Indonesiaās economic growth.Ā
In addition, the event will invite Indonesian media outlets to cover the discussion. The event will result in 6-8 journalists in attendance and at least 5 media mentions in Indonesiaās top-tier media outlets. CIPS will also draft and send press releases to gain wider coverage.Ā
