Digital Economy Expert

Center for Indonesian Policy Studies (CIPS) is one of leading the think tanks in Indonesia and has been known for its role in contributing to Indonesia’s digital transformation process, such as cyber security, digital economy, content regulation, and many more. Joining CIPS will provide avenues for individuals who are looking to build their career in public policy research. CIPS collaborate with various stakeholders, from private sector, government, international, and local institutions to provide evidence-based research and recommendation to the policy maker to drive social change.

Main Responsibilities

This role will be responsible for developing research and advocacy to guard Indonesia’s digital transformation through dialogue that will spotlight policy solutions to achieve a world class, inclusive and safe digital landscape in Indonesia. 

The Digital Economy Expert will

  • Lead and drive studies in the area of Digital Economy

  • Maintaining high level engagement and policy dialogue with relevant key stakeholders

  • Represent CIPS in public events, as a resource person as well as participants

  • Provide response to the current sector’s issues, through CIPS media outreach as well as CIPS social media platform

  • Identify creative resources and opportunities to address issues in Indonesian digital economy  sector

  • Mentor and develop young junior researchers in CIPS

Requirements:

  1. Indonesian national with a Master's Degree in economics, public policy, political economy, international relations, sociology, law, and other related social science majors.

  2. Minimum five years of experience in preparing and conducting research on public policy issues.

  3. Fluent in written and spoken English.

  4. Practical experience in fieldwork, interviews, and gathering/analyzing data. Sound methodological knowledge in social science research (e.g., case studies, ethnography, mixed methods) is advantageous.

  5. A research portfolio on digital economy policy or a Ph.D. within these areas is preferred.

  6. An analytical mindset and critical-thinking skills, and a high interest in Indonesia’s social and economic development.

  7. Good leadership skills to work autonomously both as an individual and in a team

  8. Able to work under pressure and meet agreed deadlines.

  9. A publication history (academic articles, analyses, op-eds).
