Job Overview

The Development Officer will play a crucial role in developing and implementing effective fundraising strategies and activities to support the financial sustainability and growth of CIPS. This position requires a results-driven individual in nonprofit fundraising, donor engagement, and relationship building. The Development Officer will assist and work  under the direct supervision of the Chief Innovation and Development Officer.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

1. Execute Fundraising Strategies:

  • Create and implement fundraising plans aligned with the organization’s strategic objectives

  • Identify and pursue diverse fundraising opportunities across CIPS donor segments including philanthropic and development aid grants, corporate cooperation, and individual donations.

 

2. Donor Cultivation and Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with existing donors, ensuring consistent communication and engagement.

  • Identify and cultivate relationships with potential donors and partners to expand CIPS’ donor base. This includes generating new potential donor leads through event networking and one-on-one meetings.

 

3. Grant Writing and Proposal Development

  • Research and identify grant opportunities from foundations, government agencies, and other sources.

  • Prepare compelling grant proposals, applications, and reports in collaboration with CIPS staff.

 

4. Fundraising Event Planning and Execution: 

  • Collaborate with the events team to develop creative and impactful event(s) for CIPS’ donor audience.

 

5. Data Management and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records using the organization's database and project management software.

  • Generate regular impact reports on advocacy and outreach activities, foreseeable donor trends, and financial progress of fundraising targets.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant fields such as Communications, Business Development, Sales, or Business Management.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, including grant writing and proposal development.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with donors and partners.

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks and deadlines.

  • Proven experience in nonprofit fundraising, with a successful track record of meeting fundraising targets is an advantage.
